Heike Aumüller

Heike Aumüller is a visual artist and musician based in Mainz, Germany and Tangier, Morocco. In her works, Aumüller transforms the body into a medium and topic of the artistic examination. Her performative videos and staged photography play with odd self-enactment and burlesque handlings of the body including disconcerting plots and mysterious rituals. Her works possess a certain haziness that evokes captivating tales.

Biography

Heike Aumüller (born in Stuttgart, 1969) lives and works in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Solo exhibitions include Meyer Riegger, Berlin (2011), Kunstverein Friedrichshafen (2011), Institut für moderne Kunst (Nürnberg, 2010), Meyer Riegger, Karlsruhe (2003), and Kunstwerke Berlin (2001).

Furthermore, she participated in a number of group exhibitions such as “And then there were none” (Meyer Riegger Karlsruhe, 2017), “Kunstblick” (Ärztekammer des Saarlandes, 2014), “The Village Cry” (Kunsthalle Basel, 2010), “Rendez-vous” (Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, 2004), “Impact” (Straßburg, 2001), “Hallöchen Hallöchen” (De Lege Ruimte Gent, 2000) and “Flexibilitätsversuche” (Museum Fridericanum Kassel, 2000).

Heike Aumüller has been awarded the Kunstfonds Arbeitsstipendium der Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, Kunstpreis der Bötcherstraße Bremen, Künstlerstipendium des Deutschen Studienzentrums in Venice as well as Förderpreis des Bundesministeriums für Kultur und Wissenschaft and the Karl-Schmitt-Rotluff Stipendium.
