For these works, the artist draws directly with charcoal onto un-primed canvas. The austerity of the compositions stands in contrast with Zöller’s often intensely colourful paintings. For the new publication, the artist sent the works’ titles to his brother, who wove them into a story. Archival materials, notebooks and zines produced by the artist between 2015 and 2017 provide intriguing insight into his compositional process and how he finds his motifs.
