Anna Lea Hucht

Anna Lea Hucht draws and watercolours (interior) spaces, figures, still lifes and everyday objects in a manner that is both generous and detailed. Her narrative pictorial language unfolds surreal sceneries in which the familiar and the unusual combine in an idiosyncratic way and thus develop an underlying tension after the first authentic impression. The boundary between real reality and unreal perception is cut off. Her ceramic objects follow a similar narrative - amorphous vases that frequently feature eyes as a metaphorical element as well as a connection to the viewer referring to another theme in the work, the interface between subject and object.

Biography

Anna-Lea Hucht (born in Bonn, 1980) lives and works in Berlin.
Her works have been shown in solo exhibitions at Galerie der Stadt Backnang (2019), Kunstmuseum Bonn (2016), Museum Franz Gertsch (Burgdorf, 2011), Kunsthalle Mainz (2009), Horst-Janssen-Museum (Oldenburg, 2008) and Kunsthaus Essen (2008).

Furthermore she participated in group shows at ING ART Centre (Brussels, 2019), Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (Munich, 2017), Galerie Bernd Kugler (Innsbruck, 2014), Museum Folkwang (Essen, 2011), CAPC (Bordeaux, 2013/2009), ING (Kortrijk, 2010), von der Heydt Museum (Wuppertal, 2008) and Kunstverein Freiburg (2006).

The artist has been awarded multiple awards and grants such as Bonner Kunstpreis, Keramik-Förderpreis der Majolika-Stiftung, HAP-Grieshaber-Preis, Horst-Janssen-Grafikpreis, Cité Internationale des Arts, Rotary-Stipendium „Junge Kunst in Essen“ and Graduiertenstipendium des Landes Baden-Württemberg.
